Drink a cup of warm water first thing in the morning.

Adopting healthy habits takes some effort. This one however is relatively easy as most us will put a kettle of water on the boil in the morning. Many of you may already be doing this and most people know the benefits of starting your morning with a cup of warm water and lemon juice.

Think of it as a mini-cleanse that will activate your digestive system and promote elimination.

I have struggled to maintain this habit despite knowing all the benefits. However this January is off to a good start. Like many, I enjoy a morning cup of coffee. So now, while my cuppa coffee is brewing I drink a couple of cups of warm water first. I will add the juice of half a lemon, or if there are no fresh lemons I add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Lemons and apple cider vinegar are alkaline foods that will help to balance your body’s pH.

If you find yourself without lemons or apple cider vinegar go ahead and drink the warm water on its own to provide your body with what it needs most first thing in the morning: hydration. It will also help to move waste along not only via the bowels but also the kidneys. It warms the body and increases blood and lymph circulation. There are many additional benefits, such as helping to keep skin clear and boosting metabolism.

Adopting this one habit of drinking a cup of warm water with lemon first thing in the morning is an easy way to get your day off to a healthy start.
